Creating connection and growth in the Cincinnati region

The Cincinnati Experience is an initiative to showcase Cincinnati as an amazing place to work, live, and play. While part of the Cincinnati Experience team coordinates with corporate and government partners, my job is to manage the public-facing social media side of things. I work to attract talent and generate pride and excitement in Cincinnati by sharing all the great things you can see, do, and eat in Cincinnati.

Something new every day

The Cincinnati Experience began with a straightforward concept: share a new experience you can have in Cincinnati every single day. By leveraging UGC and connections with local businesses, I was able to produce maximum content on a minimum budget, creating a new post for Instagram and Facebook every single day of the year. To date, I’ve created well over 1,000 pieces of content for the Cincinnati Experience.

A pivot in strategy

With short-form video content reaching new heights in popularity, it was time for a change. In late 2022 I worked with the rest of the Cincinnati Experience team to overhaul our approach to social. Rather than one image every day, we pivoted to a more purposeful content strategy that incorporates video content, partnerships with influencers, and more engaging static content. We also launched the Cincinnati Experience on TikTok.

the results

The Cincinnati Experience’s Instagram followers have grown from about 7,000 to over 43,000 since I began, almost entirely organically. The Cincinnati Experience now has a total following of over 50,000 across platforms. And, with the new strategy, we’ve reached over 500,000 accounts in 2023 and seen successes across all our data, from a 60% increase in average likes to over 1.5 million views on our videos.
